A very tall man, he was a gamekeeper at Exton Hall and moved after C1881 to Eathorpe. He retired as Head Gamekeeper to the Earl of Warwick and after retirement he lived in a tied cottage in Castle St, Warwick. Believe he was at Wedgerock Park Warwick in June 1915.

He was a Gamekeeper at Warwick, and later a Railway Policeman in Birmingham and London, where he met Annie, who was working in a hotel as a Linen Maid. He was married to Annie Elizabeth Roberts (known as Annie "Rooney" Roberts)(22.03.1890 - 08.12.1969).
Annie's father was a farmer at Hatton, on land which is now part of Heathrow Airport. William worked at HMV at Hayes, lived at Stanwell, Middx, and owned a short terrace of cottages and land, which he sold when they moved to Virginia Water after his retirement. Eleven houses, known as Deri Dene Close, were built on the land, next to Lord Knyvetts School. William and Annie were both cremated at Woking, Surrey.

Latterly, he suffered increasingly poor health and moved into Kineton Manor Nursing Home in the spring of 2000.He died 2000, and was cremated at Oakley Wood on 12 September. Mary continued in their bungalow in Wellesbourne until she moved into Chacombe Park Residential Home in June 2007, dying there in February 2011.Children:
